remembering the 1950s

The 1950s was an era of prosperity and optimism; it was a marvelous time to be a teenager.

However, it was also an era of great conflict.

The “Cold War” with Russia.

An uncle who served as a marine in the Korean Conflict.

The Civil Rights movement began.

We were jitterbugging and carefree, yet we were also awakening to see inequality and injustice.

Stability was fragile – and then the explosion of the 1960s!
